Education & Experience
Originally from the Midwest, I received my bachelor’s degree from Marquette University where I studied Spanish and Social Welfare & Justice. I went on to pursue my master’s degree in Clinical Social Work at the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration (now the Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy and Practice). Prior to private practice, I spent nearly eight years as a therapist, and later as a clinical and program supervisor, in early childhood services at a Denver metro community mental health agency. I also worked for five years as a children’s advocate at a resource center for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault prior to graduate school. As you can see, working with children and families is my passion.
Bilingual
The cultures of the many diverse countries where Spanish is spoken have always been of great importance to me. As a non-native Spanish speaker, I have dedicated significant time to cultivating my clinical and conversational Spanish skills through various avenues including formal education, social relationships, living abroad (Mexico, Ecuador & Spain), and more. I have 15+ years of experience utilizing Spanish in clinical settings with immigrants as well as in supervision with fellow bilingual clinicians.
